Mr. Lawrence Addo, Chief Executive Officer of Relish Health Foods Company Limited and an alumnus of the University of Ghana has once again made a donation to support brilliant needy students under the Student Financial Aid Office. He presented a cheque of GH¢70,000 to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu at a short ceremony in the Vice Chancellor’s Office. In brief remarks, Mr. Addo recalled his association with the University’s Student Financial Aid Office, which he said came about after he saw a donation by a company captured in the print media.  He thereafter made contact with the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs. Stella A. Amoa, a friend, who he said facilitated the link to the Student Financial Aid Office.  The rest, he said, has become a history of a sustained relationship which he said, he was willing to continue in so far as his business can afford it. Earlier in brief remarks, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Kwame Offei acknowledged Mr. Addo as one of the University’s cherished benefactors who he noted, has regularly supported the University on an annual basis, and consistently increased his donation over the years.  He therefore remarked that Mr. Addo should be seen more as a partner.  Prof. Offei paid glowing tribute to Mr. Addo saying how his donation through the Students Financial Aid Office (SFAO) has supported a number of students to complete their studies, thereby enabling them graduate. In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu commended Mr. Lawrence Addo for his good heartedness and for having paved the way for other alumni to get on board and support worthy causes in the University. He added that, efforts are being made to launch an Endowment Fund and also to form a Philanthropist Society that would deal with tertiary education and cater for the financial needs of students of the University of Ghana.  Quoting from Scripture, the Vice-Chancellor prayed for God’s blessings on Mr. Addo, his family and his business, saying he would receive due reward in line with the Scripture verse: “When I was hungry, you gave me to eat; when I was thirsty you gave me to drink. Now enter into the home of my father”.  He thanked him immensely for his good heartedness. Last year, Mr. Lawrence Addo made a donation GH¢60,000 to support needy brilliant students, with a portion going to support some final year students who had outstanding fees and were therefore in danger of deferring their programmes.   A group picture after the event Present at the ceremony was the Director of Public Affairs Directorate, Mrs. Stella A.
